Charlie Bartlett is a wealthy teenager who lives alone with his loopy mother. His father is in jail for tax evasion, and since then the roles have reversed, Charlie takes care of his mother, but who takes care of Charlie? After being expelled from several private schools,Charlie goes to a public school.With a lot of time in his hands and a longing for acceptation Charlie becomes the self appointed psychiatrist to the students of his new school giving advice and providing medication. Along the way he finds romance,deals with the difficulties of life and ultimately tries to be happy. Charlie Bartlett is a great (little) movie. Superb writing and a stellar,just stellar performance by Anton Yelchin. Robert Downey Jr has a minor role but makes the most of it.This flick delivers at many levels, and if you’re expecting another teen comedy, chances are you will be surprised. Quirky, fun, and clever, Charlie Bartlett turned out to be a pleasant surprise and it’s definitely worth watching.
